Young volunteers will be enjoying a day at the seaside next week as part of an eco-friendly arts project.
Members of local youth groups will be combing East Durham’s beaches for unusual items and washed up waste to transform into works of art.
The youngsters from the Phoenix Fun Club, Horden Chimps and Dawdon Adventure Club, will be joined by Pride in Easington officers and the council’s Coast and Countryside Rangers.
The activity is part of District of Easington Council’s Recreate scheme, which will see the items used during workshop sessions with professional artists at Dalton Park.
The beachcombing sessions will take place on the following days:
· Monday, 7 April
Crimdon, 10am to noon
Blackhall, 1pm to 3pm
· Tuesday, 8 April
Crimdon, 10am to noon
Seaham, 1pm to 3pm
Businesses are also being asked to donate unusual and interesting items of waste as part of the project. To make a donation contact the Pride in Easington team on (0191) 527 0501 or e.mail pride@easington.gov.uk
