Special arrangements have been put in place in East Durham for the collection of extra household waste following the Easter break.
From Tuesday, 25 March until Friday, 28 March refuse crews from District of Easington Council will not only be emptying wheelie bins but will also take away any additional waste left out for collection.
The council introduced a no side waste policy in October but will be temporarily lifting the ban next week.
Paul Penman, Environmental Operations Manager, said: “Our decision to pick up additional waste next week follows the rescheduling of our normal collections for Easter.
“As usual we have brought forward our collections by a day to accommodate the Bank Holidays but unfortunately some residents have missed their revised day.”
Leaflets informing residents of the new collection dates were sent out earlier this month.
Residents who wish to have bulky items removed will still have to arrange a special collection by contacting Envirocall on (0191) 527 5040.
